Jet Black Hair Dye and Bleached Hair!

tl;dr

Okay so I’ve been doing some crazy things to my hair lately. I like funny hair color, I just want to test the color on my hair, that can be considered as a hobby I think.

Before reading, please please I know I know bleaching will damage your hair and all. But let’s move on since we’re all big boys and girls and it’s just hair, don’t make a fuss about it

Ok so my hair has been through bleaching, permanent dying and semi dying yap all that good stuffs. This post is more about how to fix your hair color in case when you messed it up like me loool.

I’ve bleached my hair quite a few times. Maybe around 5 or so. And okay just fyi your hair won’t fall off, you won’t go bald if you did it right and take good care of it. Unless your hair is in bad condition already or your hair is too thin. So after bleaching my hair and semi dyed it to turquoise, blue, etc. I used ManicPanic hair dye (which is good btw, because it’s veggie base and it doesn’t damage your hair), it fades real fast. In my experience, the color will go lighter after every wash. Maybe everyone knows this already but wash your hair with cold water; hot water washes up the color like whoa. And if you want to have a pastel color, don’t try to dye the actual color on your hair then wash it up with hot water, it will turn into a VERY weird kind of pastel, with a kinda shade of grey if your hair is bleached enough.

Anyway back to what I was talking about. I don’t want to keep dying my  hair anymore for an obvious reason lol. And I dont want to keep bleaching my root every uhm maybe 2 months the most because my natural hair color is black, so yep it’s weird to have greenish blond hair with black roots. It’s just no. So I decided to give my chemically dead hair a break. I dyed it permanently black, which is a pretty bad decision btw. Because black hair dye WON’T look naturally black on your hair. And even more, my hair is bleached so it soaked up the color really easily. So my hair looked real real real black the blackest black by all means. It actually look cool but I don’t want it that way, it just looks ‘fake’ So I decided to fix it.

How I fix it. Well it’s pretty simple. If your hair is bleached, and you accidentally permanently dyed your hair jet black. You need to make your decision quick because the longer the color stay on your hair, the harder to get it out especially with black color.

What I did were these steps [in order]:

1. Wash up your hair with hot water

*Don’t try to wash it out with the clarifying shampoo just yet, it’ll be drying especially if your hair is already bleached woa!*

After about 2 wash your hair should still be black, trust me to get the black out is painful. But if you look closely, it’ll look kindof ‘grey’ and ‘blond’ *I assume you’ve bleached your hair before dying it, and maybe will some random ‘stains’ of other semi colors are left. Don’t use the conditioner yet. Wait until the next two days or so, and start washing your hair again.

Notes: Don’t use dandruff shampoo, especially Head and Shoulders. That stuff, i hate. It’s drying, it make my scalp feels weird. Maybe it’s just me but it’s just no. Use the deep moisturizing, for damaged hair.

2. If the color doesn’t seem to got out at all, use hot oil treatment. You need:

-Veggie oil: Coconut (my fav), Jojoba, Castor oil are good but others are fine too

-Choose one of these Herbs: Rosemary, Nutmeg, Witch Hazel

-Add 1 tbs of Neem oil for extra

How to do:

-Put 1 tbs of herd in a bowl, add about 3 tbs of oil in and heat up it up slowly on low heat for about 20-30 mins.

-Remove the herd out by some piece of cloth or filter.

*Final step:

-Put this oil on your hair. Work from the scalp down. If the oil is too hot then let it cool down a little.

-Wrap your hair up with plastic cap and wait for around 30 mins or longer.

I usually blow dry it on low slightly to keep the oil warm.

– Wash your hair thoroughly with warm water.

3. Even that isn’t enough then start using clarifying shampoo. It wil dry your hair out though. So use deep conditioner after for about 2 week. Do hot oil treatment and don’t redye your hair just yet.

Or you can strip out the color by using the color strip that can be found at Sally and other beauty supply stores.

Ok so that’s how you remove the color without bleaching it again which is real bad because bleach-dye-bleach will fry your hair up completely and the tips of your hair look like straws.  Ofcourse your hair will be left with funny color after washing/stripping since it’s jet black dye

Start fixing it:

After the third wash, you can start fixing your hair. This is for medium to dark original hair colors only. What I do is after the second wash, I bought the cream brown/light brown hair dye and sensitive scalp developer and redye it, like a coating, on my somewhat grey hair. It turned out great, my hair look more natural with a deep shade of brown when I go out to the sun.

If your hair is still black, dye it with anything darker than golden brown won’t do. So becareful when choosing the hair dye color. Don’t use blond hair dye, it will look weird. Black/grey and blond will make your hair color look like poop-ish color.

If your natural hair color is lighter, say, light brown or red, blond etc. You’ll have to take almost all the black out so when your hair starts growing you won’t look weird with blond roots and black/orange head. You can use clarifying shampoo twice a week at most. Your hair condition will be bad but oh well no other way. Use deep condition everyday so your hair won’t dye entirely. Stop using the shampoo after you got to the color you want. Don’t expect your hair go from jet black to blonde though.  Don’t dye your hair again yet. Let it repair itself for around 2 months and then you can bleach your hair so it’ll match with the roots.

If you redye your hair after washing, don’t wash your hair after you dyed it for atleast 1 day. If your hair is bleached before more than 2 times, you should wait more than 1 day to wash your hair again. And don’t wash your hair with hot/too warm water for the first week. When your hair is bleached, it soaks up the color really good but it can’t locks up the color well either. If you wash your hair again right after you dyed it, the color will get wash off.

Like I said before, my hair still look fine, not as silky and healthy like normal hair does but it still feels soft and well. Your hair won’t fall off unless you bleach more than 2 times in a day continuously. I’ll write about how I take care of my bleached hair and how to maintain the softness in next post. lol bye (:
